Compton Hospice and OGL combine for seminar

Midlands IT support & solutions provider, OGL Computer and Compton Hospice are gathering a selection of the UK's leading IT Security experts for a special business seminar at Wolverhampton Wanderers' Molineux Stadium on Thursday 18 March, with a donation being made to Compton Hospice for every company attending.

The biggest Midlands IT Security event of the year, The Secure IT seminar, which businesses can attend at no cost, is expected to attract around 75 businesses from the Midlands area. Businesses will learn from the experts at first hand about the prevalence of the current IT Security threats and how they can maximise their protection with four key speakers on cyber crime, data loss, secure remote working plus business continuity and disaster recovery.

With more than 19 years in the security industry, leading the seminar is David Emm, the Senior Security Researcher at Russian anti-virus and web-security solutions provider, Kaspersky Lab. David will draw on his wealth of experience to explain the techniques used by today's cybercriminals to compromise computers via the internet, harvest personal data and make money illegally, and how businesses can best protect themselves against cybercrime. With stolen laptops and lost memory sticks from business and government frequently in the media, Check Point's Ross Baker will also talk about security practices against data theft, and OGL's Mark Slater will elaborate on how to protect business IT infrastructure in the case of fire, flood or theft, through a robust disaster recovery plan.

Compton Hospice, the beneficiary of OGL's Secure IT seminar, provides free support services for people with life limiting illnesses and their carers and families in Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall, South Staffordshire and East Shropshire.

"OGL has been a supporter of hospice care in the Midlands for many years, supporting both Kemp Hospice in Kidderminster and St. Richard's Hospice, Worcester. Presenting our latest seminar at Molineux and considering a charitable beneficiary, Compton Hospice was the natural choice," says OGL's operation's director, Neil Morris. "We expect around 75 of the region's key businesses to attend and we will pledge a donation to Compton Hospice for every organisation attending."

"Compton Hospice is extremely grateful to OGL to be invited to attend their seminar to promote the work of the hospice and possibly obtain support from Wolverhampton's local businesses attending," says Simon Cater, corporate fundraiser, Compton Hospice.

Free registration for the seminar is still open via the weblink, and for more information also visit www.ogl.co.uk/seminar
