Childhood memory: I believe I was about 3 or 4 years old when my parents took me to the zoo and there was a chimpanzee riding a little bicycle that looked exactly like mine. I cried all day asking for my bike back until I saw mine nice and safe back at home. I’m sure I wasn’t happy about it at the time but looking back it’s a great memory and one that my parents often enjoy reminding me about!

Can you tell us about your job role?

We currently have over 150 ecommerce web customers and my job is to provide support to these customers with prof.ITplus integration, resolving issues and making amendments to customer websites. I spend a lot of time offering advice to customers about their website to enable them to fulfil their online business objectives and ensure their websites are effectively integrated with prof.ITplus for optimum performance.

What is your average day like?

I speak to lots of our customers during the course of an average day and most now know me by name and sometimes even recognise my voice when I answer the phone. It’s a pleasure to help them out as much as I can. The queries I am presented with each day are always different, which makes the job exciting and gives me the opportunity to learn something new every day.

Happily, I do not live far from OGL’s offices and so I get to go home for my lunch most of the time. This gives me the chance to recharge myself for the next half of the day. Even though I do not get a lot of spare time between customer enquiries, I do try to find time to have a catch up with colleagues and make sure I get my daily caffeine intake by way of regular coffees.

What is your career background?

I have always had an interest in software programming and hold a bachelor’s degree in Computing and Information Systems, graduating in 2006. I have held a number of IT support roles since graduation, but have always wanted to eventually work with websites. Joining OGL’s WebServices Team means I have now reached that goal and am very much enjoying my work.

What is the most common question you get asked about prof.ITplus and how do you respond?

I get asked a few common questions regarding sales ledger and stock management, but mostly every question is different which is to be expected as every customer will use the system and their website uniquely. One common theme of enquiry is around web discounts and online voucher codes. I advise customers how to set these up in prof.ITplus and check that their website is configured to process the discounts and codes. Sometimes this may mean some amendments to the site are required which I make for the customer.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Not easy to pinpoint but I’ll pick just one of them; I enjoy the opportunity to learn through regular training on new web trends and technology.

How do you like to spend your time away from the office?

I used to spend a lot of time with my friends, but nowadays I find myself spending more time at home with my partner and family. Perhaps this is a sign of getting old! I do try to stay in shape by going to gym and I enjoy travelling to new places.
