Spectre & Meltdown Vulnerabilities

Over the last few days many of you will have read, or seen on the news, information relating to a pair of newly disclosed security vulnerabilities which have been named “Spectre” and “Meltdown”.
 
What makes the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities of particular concern is that they have been found within the CPU chips themselves rather than just a particular operating system or application.
 
The impact of this is that almost every modern server, PC, laptop and phone using Intel, AMD and ARM processors is susceptible to this vulnerability regardless of the operating system being used.  This will apply to Windows, Linux, Apple OSX, Android and Apple IOS...
