UK IT Security experts at Molineux for OGL seminar
OGL Computer is gathering a selection of the UK's leading IT Security experts for a special business seminar at Wolverhampton Wanderers' Molineux Stadium on Thursday 18 March, with the intention of ensuring that the region's businesses are better protected against IT Security threats.
The biggest Midlands IT Security event of the year, The Secure IT seminar, which businesses can attend at no cost, is expected to attract around 75 businesses from the Midlands area. Businesses will learn from the experts at first hand about the prevalence of the current IT Security threats and how they can maximise their protection with four key speakers on cyber crime, data loss, secure remote working plus business continuity and disaster recovery.
With more than 19 years in the security industry, leading the seminar is David Emm, the Senior Security Researcher at Russian anti-virus and web-security solutions provider, Kaspersky Lab. David will draw on his wealth of experience to explain the techniques used by today's cybercriminals to compromise computer's via the internet, harvest personal data and make money illegally, and how businesses can best protect themselves against cybercrime.
Stolen laptops and lost memory sticks from government and business have a frequent media presence, primarily because of the potentially catastrophic results of the loss of highly confidential data. This year, new legislation also means that companies could be fined up to £500,000 for data loss through bad practice. Check Point's Data Security Sales Director, Ross Baker, will inform Secure IT attendees how they can ensure best practice to maintain full legal compliance and to ensure their own operational safety.
Also pertinent on the current IT Security agenda with an increase in home- or out-of-office-based IT users, especially apparent with this winter's bad weather and transport problems, is remote network security. James Taylor, representing WatchGuard, will explain what remote users can do to maintain the safest and most reliable network connections wherever they are working from.
Finally, OGL's Research & Development expert, Mark Slater, will demonstrate to the region's businesses how they can maintain operational uptime, even if they suffer server failure, through tested and durable business continuity procedures. And while fire, flood or theft can seem a remote possibility to some, to many businesses these effects can be commercially fatal. Mark will explain the potential risks and expand on the necessary measures involved in a robust data backup plan.
"The Secure IT seminar brings to the Midlands one of the UK's best line-ups of IT Security experts and we're extremely pleased to be able to offer this leading advice and guidance to the region's commercial organisations, all free of charge," says Paul Colwell, OGL Computer's Head of Research and Development.
