What apprenticeships do OGL offer?

We offer a variety of apprenticeship programmes in both our Technical and Software divisions, including Business Administration apprenticeships.

All apprenticeship candidates are interviewed by both our local apprenticeship providers and OGL to ensure team fit and are guided and supported by a dedicated mentor within OGL.

Apprenticeships we offer include:

Infrastructure Technician – Level 3

An Infrastructure Technician provides support to internal and external customers, helping them to be productive when using technology to do their own jobs, by using tools to problem solve and trouble shoot non-routine problems.

Typical jobs you can progress into include:

Help Desk Technician, First or Second Line Support, IT Infrastructure Technician, Network Support

Network Engineer – Level 4

The primary role of a Network Engineer is to design, install, maintain and support communication networks within an organisation or between organisations. Network Engineers need to maintain high levels of operation of communication networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability to their users.

Typical jobs you can progress into include:

Network Technician, Network Engineer, Systems Engineer, Network Administrator

Software Developer – Level 4

The primary role of a Software Developer is to build and test simple, high-quality code across front end, logic and database layers. A Developer will typically be working as part of a larger team, in which they will have responsibility for some of the straightforward elements of the overall project.

Typical jobs you can progress into include:

Web Developer, Application Developer, Mobile App Developer, Software Developer

Business Administration – Level 2 & 3

You will develop your knowledge and skills when dealing with day to day administration tasks, such as providing and managing information, producing documents, postal/written/telephone communications, using databases and diary systems, taking minutes and handling mail.

Typical jobs you can progress into include:

A Business Administration apprenticeship opens up a wide range of administration opportunities in various departments including: Sales, Marketing, Data, HR and Purchasing. 

How to apply for an apprenticeship with OGL?

All apprentices are interviewed by us to decide whether they are suitable for our programmes. You can register your interest for an apprenticeship with us either through our apprenticeship providers or by applying directly to us.

Benefits of an apprenticeship with OGL

  • We pride ourselves on offering a salary to apprentices significantly higher than the national apprenticeship rate in recognition of the value and benefit our apprentices bring to the business.
  • You will have a dedicated mentor who will offer constant on-hand advice and support ensuring you are happy and settled.  
  • You will spend 80% of your apprenticeship on the job, learning everything you’ll need to know to progress. You’ll be hands on with our support teams, learning from the team and developing your skills at our Kidderminster or Stourport offices.
  • We have also developed an effective training plan tailored to the needs of both the organisation and our apprentices, part of which is comprehensive additional inhouse training, delivered at OGL’s cost by an Industry Accredited trainer. This gives all apprentices high level, often bespoke and sought-after learning opportunities to equip them both during and after their apprenticeship.
  • Completion rate for OGL apprenticeships in 2015/2016 was 100%, significantly higher than the industry average of 67.7% during the same period.
