Staff at OGL raised over £230 for their monthly charity dress-down day. November 2019's charity was Cancer Research UK, nominated by our Marketing Manager.
Staff here at OGL are participating in monthly dress down days to raise funds for charities and causes close to our hearts. November's dress down day was held in support of Cancer Research UK, which was nominated by Marketing Manager, Cindy Phillips.
Cindy said: "I think cancer is sadly now a disease that impacts everyone at some time in their lives, whether they battle it themselves or have to watch a loved one go through it. I have nominated Cancer Research UK as this month's DDD as I have seen first-hand how the research that they do, can extend and even save lives.
"My mum was diagnosed with a very rare bone cancer some 12 years ago which just 15 years ago was fatal within 5 years. At her diagnosis she was offered the opportunity to be placed on a trial for stem cell harvesting which she underwent. The results were fantastic and she was declared in remission just 18 months later. She went on to have a further 10 happy and healthy years, all because of the work that Cancer Research UK had done.
"I now support this charity myself and when I see the work they are doing and the treatments they are making available, it is encouraging for anyone who is diagnosed with this awful disease that there is now hope as the work this charity is doing really does save lives and will hopefully one day find a cure for all cancers."
OGL Staff raised over £230 for the charity.
