Congratulations to Jo Broomhall, who celebrates her 20-year Long Service milestone.
We caught up with Jo to find out more about her time at OGL so far:
"20 years – that’s almost as scary as remembering my age!
In some ways it’s gone quickly and it doesn’t feel as if I’ve been here 20 years, but on the other hand it seems like a lifetime ago when I started as a Sales Administrator for the Technical Account Management Team. I think it was around 18 months later when one of the sales managers suddenly frog marched me into Paul Byrne’s office - leaving me worrying about what I’d done so wrong - but fortunately it was to offer me the position of PA to Paul and Ashok. I must admit to being a little daunted at first, but it has been a privilege working with both of them. It’s a role full of variety and I’m certainly kept busy.
Over the years I’ve been involved with new phone systems, mobile phone upgrades (recording all those lovely EMEI numbers that I can hardly read!), car fleet, sales analysis, facilities, payroll and lots of projects that the Directors have been involved with. I remember when we were preparing the offices for people to start coming back in after the Covid lockdown – I’ve never done so much printing, laminating and walking around the offices getting stuck in my own one-way systems because I’d put an arrow in the wrong place – I think I got rid of a few lockdown calories that week! Of course, there’s also been lots of tea making – ah yes, it’s probably time for Ashok to make me a cuppa for my 20th anniversary!
I thoroughly enjoy working at OGL and am so grateful to Paul and Ashok for offering me the role and for putting up with all my “nagging” (I’d call it gentle reminding) all these years.
Not long after I started, OGL was celebrating its 30th anniversary and now here we are celebrating its 50th year - that’s a huge testament to everyone that has contributed to its success over the years."
Jo's manager, Ashok Patel commented: "I can’t believe it has been 20 years! Whilst Jo initially spent 18 months working in Existing Sales Admin, for the past 18+ years she has worked alongside myself and Paul Byrne, and what an asset she is!
Over the years, Jo has developed such an in-depth knowledge of all things financial and the business world! Jo has continued to build her knowledge as my role expanded to a more global one across the wider OGL Group. Her dedication to getting involved has meant that she now just takes care of all the back office and administration tasks, without me or Paul even needing to ask. I have complete confidence in her as she never fails to deliver everything she does to a consistently high standard.
Her commitment, and discretion, were really put to the test in 2022 when we sold the IT and cyber security divisions. Her loyalty and unwavering support were a major factor in enabling me to successfully navigate a very demanding period and I am forever grateful that I had Jo by my side.
On behalf of myself and Paul, I would like to say a very special congratulations Jo on 20 years, we couldn’t do it without you! I look forward to continuing to work with you and celebrating the next big milestone!"
