Megan joined OGL Software in 2021. Read more about her experience as she celebrates 5 years.

Congratulations to Megan Weaver who is celebrating her 5-year long service milestone this week.
We caught up with Megan to find out more about her time at OGL so far:
After starting my career in audit at Grant Thornton, I realised that I wanted to be part of something long term. Rather than moving from company to company, I wanted to build relationships, help improve processes and contribute to the growth of one business. That desire led me to OGL, where I joined on 21 June 2021 as an Accounts Assistant, initially assisting Michelle with the Sales Ledger duties.
Over the last five years, I’ve been fortunate to progress from Accounts Assistant to Management Accountant and now Finance Team Manager. Alongside my day job, I spent three years studying for my CIMA qualification, balancing full days at work with evening college classes and sacrificing many weekends to revision and exams. It wasn’t always easy, but the hard work paid off in the end.
Looking back, I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come. My progression reflects both the opportunities OGL has given me and my determination to keep learning, developing and taking on new challenges. From day one, I was always keen to get stuck in and take on more. I was probably quite annoying with my constant “Is there anything else I can do?”, but I’ve always been eager to learn and challenge myself, and I’m grateful that OGL has enabled me to turn that ambition into a career I genuinely love. I’m also grateful to Gary Haynes for his support and for the opportunities he has given me over the years, which have played a big part in my development.
I certainly made an unforgettable first impression! After avoiding COVID throughout the pandemic, I somehow managed to catch it in my very first week, meaning everyone had to go back to working from home for a few days. Not quite the start I had planned!
One of the first people I met was Michelle Stuart. We actually share the same start date, just 11 years apart, and I like to think I was her 11-year service present! Despite our COVID screen dividers, we quickly built a great friendship that has lasted ever since. We make a good team, and Michelle is always ready to lend a hand. I feel very lucky to have gained not only a fantastic colleague, but also a great friend.
Genuinely, the laughs and memories we’ve made over the years are priceless. Through all the challenges, busy periods and plenty of laughs along the way, we’ve built friendships that I truly value. I think that’s what makes a great workplace, and I feel very lucky to have shared the last five years with such a fantastic group of people.
Together, we’ve implemented countless process improvements, embraced new challenges and always supported one another through busy periods and changing priorities. I’ve really enjoyed being part of that journey and seeing how much we have achieved as a team. I think the communication, trust and support we have for each other is what makes us work so well together.
Looking back over the last five years, what stands out most isn’t the job titles or qualifications – it’s the people. I truly love the people I work with, and they are the reason I’m happy to come to work each day. I’m grateful for all the friendships, support and memories we’ve made along the way, and I’m excited to see what the next chapter brings.
Here’s to the last five years – and hopefully many more to come!
Gary Haynes, CFO, added: "Megan joined the finance department as a Sales Ledger Administrator prior to the sale of the IT and cyber security divisions. The sale brought about many challenges for the Central Services departments but with this came opportunities.
Megan’s attitude, enthusiasm and continued dedication to her training made her the ideal fit for the Management Accountant position, a role I am glad she accepted in August 2022. She seized this opportunity from the start at a time when a lot was changing for the finance team.
Megan achieved a major personal and professional goal in July 2024, successfully passing her CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualifications. In recognition of this, as well as her commitment to expanding her skills and application of them in her role Megan was promoted to Finance Team Manager in January 2025.
Megan has achieved a lot in the last 5 years but continues to grow professionally and is always eager to learn. She has always shown great initiative and a can-do attitude. We often joke that she is always one step ahead of me based on the number of times I’ve asked her to investigate something she has either already started or even finished.
I’d like to thank Megan for her hard work and support over the last five years. Congratulations on your 5-year anniversary."
