Are you a backend-focused developer who enjoys solving complex problems and building custom functionality that powers real eCommerce stores?

Do you take pride in writing clean, well-structured code regardless of the framework it sits in? 

We are seeking a talented Web Developer to join our web team, focused on the bespoke development and ongoing evolution of our eCommerce platform. You'll be working primarily within our established PHP codebase platform, integrated with our ERP software, that powers live customer online businesses. As we evolve the platform, there will be increasing opportunities to work with modern frameworks, new architectural approaches, and fresh tooling as we continue to invest in our stack.

This is a hands-on development role for someone who is comfortable with legacy code, takes ownership of the features they build, and wants to work collaboratively with our web manager and customer base. 

Responsibilities 
  • Develop and extend bespoke backend functionality for our eCommerce platform using PHP and MySQL 
  • Build and maintain custom features that enhance the online store experience for our customers' end users 
  • Write clean, well-tested, and documented code, including in existing legacy codebases 
  • Investigate and resolve complex technical issues in production environments 
  • Participate in technical discussions and contribute to decisions about how we evolve the platform over time 
  • Collaborate with the web manager and product team to continuously develop the platform quality and capability 
Key Skills
  • PHP 8+
  • MySQL
  • JavaScript
  • HTML/CSS
  • Version control (Git)
Preferred Skills
  • Laravel or similar modern PHP frameworks
  • React or other modern frontend frameworks
  • GraphQL or REST API experience
  • TypeScript
  • Experience with eCommerce platforms or familiarity with eCommerce data models  
  • Familiarity with automated testing practices
