Can you tell us about your job role?
My job is to provide user advice to customers using prof.ITplus and SalesVision. A lot of what I do involves investigating calls but can involve advising customers on things they aren’t too sure about. Every day is different here at OGL, in the morning I could be talking about Stock Import but in the afternoon I could be telling a customer how to post negative cash through the Sales Ledger.
What is your average day like?
I don’t live far from OGL, so after a 5-minute drive, I’m in the office. Upon arriving, the first thing I do is stop Debbie Hotchkiss (Software Support Consultant) from talking to herself and then crack on with work. In-between calls, we usually talk about what’s going on in the news, put the world to rights and then get back to the job.
What is your career background?
I came to OGL on work experience when I was 19 during the last term of Sixth Form. During my work experience I spent a week in Technical and was offered an interview a week later. OGL made me feel welcome right from the beginning and I was happy to accept the position when it was offered. I worked in the Technical Department for 6 months but then moved to Software and have been here ever since.
What is the most common question you get asked about prof.ITplus and how do you respond?
Every incident is different so choosing a specific topic would be hard. Not every customer uses prof.ITplus in the same way, so understanding this when investigation calls does help. If I had to choose, it would be about reversing incorrect invoice / cash postings. As you cannot simply delete transactions, a credit note / negative cash posting would need to be created and allocated to the incorrect transaction.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
That’s a difficult question, it’s a choice between spending all day, every day with the people in the office or speaking to customers. We are a really tight team who get on very well but I also enjoy building a rapport with our customers.
How do you like to spend your time away from the office?
I spend most of my free time at the gym, however if I’m not doing that, I’ll be cleaning my car. My weekends involve pretty much the same, apart from going out now and again with friends.
