Joe Griffiths Takes The Lead

Congratulations to Joe Griffiths who has been promoted to Blue Team Leader in CyberGuard.

Joe joined OGL back in 2014 as a Technical Apprentice where he spent time in the Technical department, Workshop as well as in Hosted Services. It wasn’t long before he was offered a full-time role in the Hosted Services Team working for Charlie Grant and Colin Dennis where he found himself supporting customers with their technical issues and undertaking field visits to customer sites. As his skills developed, he broadened his experience into installing and migrating customers to Office 365 and when Rob Wilcox was promoted to his role as Internal IT Manager, Joe picked up responsibility for the maintenance and configuration of OGL’s Exchange and 365 installations.

October 2017 saw further development in Joe’s career as he took on the role of Desktop Engineer, installing desktops, laptops and printers for customers. And it was all change again in November 2018 when he was promoted to Server Engineer in Business 1 Team. This role saw Joe providing telephone and remote support to customers with more challenging issues with their servers and networks.

But it was in January 2020 that Joe achieved his ultimate ambition; to move into the world of cyber security. Here he got to monitor security alerts from our next-gen AV product, Carbon Black, and SIEM solution, AlienVault and flag up potential threats to customers.

Joe has proved to be the asset he promised to be since joining CyberGuard and his hard work has been recognised with his latest promotion to Blue Team Leader. Blue Team are the defensive team who continually monitor and handle threats to customers. In his role as team leader he is responsible for ensuring the well-being and development of the analysts within his team and ensure they maintain high standards through the identification and adoption of new processes to drive efficiencies and meet their KPIs. Joe will also act as technical lead on major projects with the larger customers and provide an escalation point for any alerts that the Analysts need support with.

Joe’s manager, Sean Tickle, commented: “Within the InfoSec industry there are few people you can truly rely on to get the job done. I am incredibly fortunate to have teams of those great people within CyberGuard and someone like Joe leading the charge for our Defensive Team”.
