Laura Bennett Celebrates 5 Years | OGL Group

A huge congratulations to Laura Bennett who recently celebrated 5 years at OGL.

Laura looks back on the last 5 years:

“Firstly, it is very odd to be on the other side of Long Service Awards! I am usually asking others what gift they would like and taking the photos!

“I started out as a HR Administrator, and since then my role has got bigger and bigger and I am now a HR Officer! I mentioned to Emma the other day in my previous jobs I seemed to have had a 4 year itch and moved companies, however I have been well and truly bitten by the OGL bug and I’m happier than ever in my role.

“My biggest achievement has to be my progression, guided and supported by Emma all the way. She always has confidence in me, even when I may not have it in myself. Oddly enough my favourite aspect of my job is Long Service Awards! I have been in a fair few over the last few years and I have not heard Neil Morris tell the same story twice! My other favourite is seeing new employees on their first day, then seeing how they flourish at OGL and I always get a buzz doing a promotion letter later on in their career with us.

“I don’t think I have any funny memories – other than hiding food from Emma! Even after 5 years she is still dedicated to trying to get me to eat a bit healthier, so I have to be more sneaky with when and how I want to sneak a biscuit or a Greggs sandwich with a sausage roll chaser! I still haven’t convinced anyone in the office that Bovril is fantastic (don’t judge ’til you have tried it)!”

Emma Porter, Laura’s manager, congratulates her on her 5 years at OGL:

“It’s hard to believe that Laura has been part of the HR team for 5 years – the time has flown by! During this time, HR has had to handle a number of unexpected challenges including the Covid pandemic, one of the worst skills shortages for many decades and significant growth within the OGL Group; Laura has stepped up to the challenge and simply thrived. It has been great to see how Laura has progressed within the team from starting as HR Administrator to her current role of HR Officer, and her hard work and willingness to go the extra mile are exemplary.

“It is an absolute pleasure to work with Laura, with her can-do attitude, great sense of humour and her delicious home-made cakes.”
