Charity swim in aid of Daisy Garland

On Friday 27 July Software Operations Manager, Charlie Grant, will be embarking on his yearly swimming challenge to raise money for the Daisy Garland charity in memory of his son, Teddy Grant.

This year, Charlie will be attempting the Padstow to Rock swim in Cornwall, accompanied by a few of his colleagues and friends at OGL.

Charlie commented: “In memory of Teddy and to try and raise as much money as possible for a great charity I’ve decided this year to try a slightly different challenge. Of course, I’ll still be in the water but rather than compete in another long-distance swim, I thought I would challenge myself at completing a 1-mile swim in under 30 minutes. It’s a real challenge as if we don’t complete the swim in under half an hour they’ll fish us out of the water and we’ll get disqualified.

“The swim, which is at the end of July (right in the heat of summer), was an obvious choice because Padstow is very close to my heart, as not only have the generations of my mum’s family holidayed there for many years, but we also took Teddy there for his first seaside holiday. These precious and happy memories of Padstow and the surrounding area make the perfect challenge for me and the team.

“This is the third year of swimming in memory of Teddy and we, of course, are trying to raise as much money as possible for the Daisy Garland charity, it’s amazing to think that with everyone’s help and support we have raised over £40,000 over that 3-year period. It makes me very proud to think we have raised that amount in memory of Teddy.”
